The clouds boil overhead. The whipping winds
carry the stench of sulfur. The ground shatters. Large chunks crumble into
the raging waters. Chaos brings the old existence crashing to its knees
and stirs new life. And Jello rises from the primordial ooze.
Perhaps once in
an epoch evolution twists life into such an unconventional shape, and even
more rare is a mutation of such power. The
being known as Jello came to life with full awareness
of its surroundings and its incredible magic.
Jello had powers heretofore only imagined by the
creatures dragging their bellies through
the muck. It could identify any object, no matter how
foreign. It could teleport from one place
to another in the blink of an eye. It could obliterate
entities with an awe-inspiring ball of fire.
It could alter weapons to make them more effective.
It also had the ability to rob beings of
their sight.
As time went on,
the world grew and changed and so too did the mutated primordial ooze
change and grow. Jello discovered the ability
to create objects the likes of which had never been
seen. It could switch its consciousness
into another body. It could force creatures to perform any
activity, from posing to speaking. It could
even send messages that were heard throughout the
land and could not be traced back to it.
These messages were used to confuse the masses and
inspire fear and mistrust against those
Jello wished vanquished.
Faced with this
intimidating display of power, all those within Jello's reach began to
worship it as a deity. Few ever caught a
glimpse of Jello, but its power was known far and wide
and all creatures showed it blind devotion.
Numerous sacrifices were made to this unusual god,
but no one could give it its one true desire.
Although Jello
is essentially a formless orange mass with a gloppy, sloshy, sticky, gooey
consistency, it found that it could hold
a shape for a short period of time. It grew dissatisfied with
the temporary aspect of its forms and attempted
to create a permanent figure for itself. It was in
this pursuit that Jello came to know its
limits. Jello met with failure time and again. With the
perversity of the humanity it lacks, Jello
wants only that which it cannot have.
